An integral part of bp’s transition from an International Oil Company to an Integrated Energy Company is the entry of electrical vehicle (EV) charging markets in key countries e.g. Germany. On our mission to make charging fast and hassle-free, our charging points will soon be used by a rapidly growing German customer base. We’ve got a small network of charging sites live and will expand it at pace. We work with the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers to support their customers, as well as some of Germany’s biggest fleets, leasing companies and local authorities. We use the Aral brand which is one of the strongest brands in the mobility space in Germany.

The purpose of the role Residential charging business development lead is to be the creator and leader of a new business, enabling bp to serve its fleet customers in an even better way. Success is building a new business, offering our customers the opportunity to charge at their own homes with best in class reliability

Key accountabilities:

  • Build, lead, develop and manage bp’s residential charging business in Germany. P&L ownership for that business
  • Execute, monitor and evaluate activities to ensure that quality goals e.g. reliability goals are constantly being met, developing best practices. Think creatively to generate new opportunities for the business
  • Development of detailed spending and resourcing plans and priorities to meet major business goals and objectives in network operations
  • Create a culture of success, on-going business and goal achievement
  • Recruit, hire, coach, and develop a high performing team on an on-going basis
  • Lead sales of charging solutions and their installation at customer locations
  • Lead new business development in the B2C space overall for bp’s Electrification business in Germany. This includes strategy development for the B2C space
  • Liaise with bp chargemaster to get alignment for future potential cooperation on services and products
  • Contribute to building a portfolio of options that provide short, medium and long-term commercial benefit for bp. Lead the planning and execution of launching and managing new B2C business opportunities with the aim to build for future scale
  • The role is a critical part of the growth strategy of the business, as the EV charging business has been identified as a growth market and a strategic priority for bp. As such, the incumbent will also interact with the commercial teams across the business and will foster the development of partnerships with other departments and functions
  • Find solutions to strategic issues where few precedents exist in an environment with a high degree of unpredictability

Education:

  • Excellent university degree in business administration, economics, engineering or comparable education

Essential experience:

  • Proven track record in Sales
  • Broad and deep professional experience in the EV charging / EV charging infrastructure space and related energy management (load management, smart charging, V2G, Microgrid etc …)
  • Highly advanced knowledge of EV charging technology and thorough understanding of the operation and structures of charging networks and how they are integrated
  • Direct experience of standards participation, contribution and set-up, preferably within standardisation bodies or industry organisations, such as Automotive, Infrastructure players and Software related players
  • Developing partnerships and joint ventures, contractual and negotiating experience
  • Agile Project management
  • Ability to work in flexible and highly commercially focussed ways to achieve results
  • Team Management and Leadership
  • Fluent in German and English
