As a mechanical engineer in our solid state probe R&D team in Rheinstetten/Ettlingen (Karlsruhe area), you will work in the field of micromechanics and air bearing turbine technology to design, test and further improve our products that are used by our academic and industrial customers all around the world.

Aufgaben/Verantwortlichkeiten

  • Perform and drive mechanical design of probes for solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)
  • Develop and further improve magic-angle spinning (MAS) air bearing microturbines by technological feasibility and conceptual work, CAD design and construction
  • Carry out CFD simulations of microturbines
  • Assess designs practically by assembly and testing of functional models and prototypes
  • Coordinate production of mechanical parts with inhouse mechanical workshops and external vendors to provide efficient and innovative solutions
  • Maintain strong cooperation with related departments such as application, engineering and production
  • Be actively involved in multiple projects, working in interdisciplinary teams of engineers, physicists, chemists and others
  • Adhere to the development process embedded in a Product Life Cycle Management environment
  • Collaborate with some of our global customer laboratories who are pioneering new applications of solid-state NMR
  • Be an active member in our international team, contributing to a positive team spirit.

Qualifikationen

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering (Maschinenbau)
  • Work experience in design, production or optimization of micromechanical systems
  • Profound CAD skills in Solid Edge or an equivalent tool
  • Experience in structural, thermal and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations
  • Preferably working experience with openFOAM
  • Proficiency in cryogenics would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of high-performance ceramics and/or plastics is appreciated
  • Background in Mechanical Engineering applied to Magnetic Resonance instrumentation is a plus
