We are seeking a skilled back-end developer to join our IBM Software team. As part of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality software products, working with a variety of technologies and programming languages.

We are looking for cloud engineers who are highly motivated about developing innovative, hybrid cloud solutions that paves the way for our large-enterprise customers on their journey to the Cloud. You will have the opportunity to develop, operate and drive a technology that seamlessly integrates Mainframe IBM Z data in Cloud applications in a most efficient and performant way.

Cloud Engineers in our team work inside a highly agile, global development environment and are responsible for the full life cycle of our Cloud-based product offering – ranging from the design and implementation of new features and automations of the delivery process to testing for industry-leading quality assurance, continuous deployments and best-of-breed operation and support of our global enterprise customers.

You should be thrilled by emerging technologies, such as Cloud and Artificial Intelligence, to open our Cloud Offering for future hybrid Mainframe- and Cloud-based data analytics markets.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Deep knowledge in cloud architectures, cloud concepts, and cloud operations
• Hands-on experience with Linux and containerization technologies, such as Docker or Podman
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration tools, preferably Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform or Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience with IBM Cloud®, AWS, Azure or Private Cloud deployments
• Profound knowledge of networking and storage technologies as well as security concepts in Cloud environments
• Fluency in at least one object-oriented and scripting programming language
• Practical experience in agile software development in distributed teams
• Broad and proven know-how in database architecture and technology
• Strong communication skills
• Proven innovation mindset 
• Embrace the challenge of change and constant learning 
• Recent PhD, Master, or Bachelor degree in Software Engineering
• German: fluent
• English: fluent

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experiences in CI/CD pipeline automations and Dev/Ops practices
• Experiences with software performance measurements and tuning
• Experience in data replication technologies, like Apache Kafka, and open data formats, such as Apache Iceberg
• Experiences in web-based front-end development with HTML, JS, React
• Contributions to Open-Source projects on GitHub are a plus
