The role

We are seeking an experienced Field Applications Engineer (all genders) based remotely in Germany to join our growing Life Sciences team. In this role, will work closely with Commercial, Field Applications, Product Management, and Marketing team members to effectively market, sell, and service a portfolio of sterilizing-grade single-use and/or multi-use filters. This role will have a high focus on providing technical support and actively selling filtration solutions to new and existing end-users. The position is anticipated to evolve into a people leader role and further define and empower our Field Application Strategy for filtration and single-use products.

What you will do

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for commercial and customer technical support members. Train and support the commercial teams to present the value propositions of filtration portfolio and technical services. Seek to understand customer needs and be able to offer filtration solutions to meet customer requirements. Effectively introduce and present customers with filtration and single-use solutions and services e.g., product overview, validation services, troubleshooting and/or implementation support, etc. for existing and potential end-users.
  • Travel to customer sites domestically in Europe and occasionally globally as needed to perform filterability trials on-site and optimize the customer’s filtration processes. Identify, define, and translate customer pain points into user requirement specifications [URS]. Includes trial design, trial execution, data analysis, report writing and presentation of solutions that may include filter products integrated into single-use assemblies.
  • Increase sales pipeline value by helping manage marketing qualified leads, generating growth through continuous technical and sales support, and managing customer expectation through meticulous communication and sustaining customer trust.
  • Work to accelerate solution proposals through strong understandings of the customer’s buying process and our internal requirements.
  • Provide field marketing and VOC to product management, R&D, and/or marketing to help develop marketing campaigns, new product introduction (NPIs), and/or product development.
  • Travel and support local event, tradeshows, and/or technical conferences highlighting filtration and single-use solutions.
  • Collaborate with field and single-use design engineers to combine filter products with tubing, manifolds, fittings, connectors, and bags into value added single-use systems.
  • Ability to assist customer’s requirements for pre and/or post-use filter integrity testing utilizing existing 3rd party integrity test equipment. As well as the ability to help customers determine if and what filter qualification and validation services could be required based on application of use.
  • Develop and author validation guides, application notes, product user guides and other publications highlighting Entegris industry solutions: Case-studies, competitor benchmarks, customer-generated data, information on common industry problems, etc.
  • Lead and train new Filtration Field Applications Engineers to broaden our customer reach and ability to solve customer filtration challenges with established solutions.

What we seek

Besides an open, ambitious, and communicative behavior, well-developed skills in (self-) organization, communication, and sales would be a good fit for the position. You are best equipped for the tasks if you have:

  • An advanced degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical engineering, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences or any other related fields
  • Professional experiences in a comparable position, which could mean the following:

    • experience in life sciences technical sales and/or applications role in relation to filtration and/or single-use systems
    • experience as a filter and applications subject matter expert interacting with customers to identify problems and provide technical support
    • experience designing, executing, interpreting, and presenting recommendations from filter optimization trials to customers
    • experience to assemble and work with filters, tubing, connectors, pressure gauges, pressurized liquids and gases, pumps, micro pipets, cutting tools, measuring tools, scientific equipment, and safely handle potentially hazardous materials in a laboratory environment
    • experience integrating single-use filters into single-use assemblies containing tubing, connectors, and bioprocess bags
  • Strong foundational knowledgeable about filtration and filtration applications, including familiarity with end-user regulatory and quality requirements for sterilizing-grade filters and key guidance documents such as PDA TR-26.

  • Excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills in English and German, proficiency in further European languages (e. g. French) are very beneficial
