Join us as a

Safety Engineer – Automated Driving SOTIF (m/f/d)

for Autonomous Driving (AD) solutions focused on the overall system architecture. As a member of our Automotive Engineering Lab at the Munich Research Center (MRC), you will contribute to Huawei’s fascinating automotive product portfolio with strong dedication on pure in-house development. You will be a key player in the development of the system safety solutions of a wide spectrum of next-generation AD technologies and customer-facing deliverables.

Your mission

  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis of AD/ADAS systems and application of ISO 26262 and ISO 21448 analysis methods (e.g. FMEDA, FTA, STPA).
  • System safety concept engineering and review of system architecture including identification, definition and specification of safety measures and requirements.
  • Interact with system and development teams for designing and reviewing AD/ADAS system safety architectures, including fail-operational, fail-degraded and fail-safe aspects.
  • Definition and review of system and software level (safety) requirements considering performance, functional safety and SOTIF properties.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards, regulations, and new trends and best practices to extract and share key insights impacting Huawei’s ADS solution within the organization.

Your areas of expertise

  • MSc. of PhD. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent automotive system/software safety engineering experience.
  • Profound practical experience in automotive safety engineering including ISO26262, functional and technical safety concepts, HARA/FMEA/FTA methods.
  • Deep knowledge and practical experience in SOTIF, ISO21448 (STPA, scenario-based verification, residual risk quantification)
  • Excellent understanding of automotive E/E and system architectures and their design / interactions / constraints.
  • Familiar with L2/NCAP requirements and functions such as ELKS, ACC, AEB, their architectures, safety challenges and solutions, and with safety standards and regulations (DCAS, UNECE Vehicle Regulations).
  • Hands-on attitude and positive engagement to inspire and motivate teammates.
  • Professional proficiency in English. German and/or Chinese knowledge are an advantage
  • Willing to travel abroad (up to 25% of the time)
